Creative pupils from the Foundation facilitate a conversation with King’s High Old Girl Catherine Hillier, an award-nominated Composer and Scoring Assistant for Film, Television and Theatre.

She has written scores for multiple short films across a variety of genres including Fiction, Animation and Documentary - including some of her most recent work on BAFTA Award-winning short comedy, Jellyfish & Lobster (2023) Directed by Yasmin Afifi - her score for this also being nominated for ‘Best Score’ at The British Short Film Awards 2023, Award-winning short animated musical-drama Homemaker (2023) and Award-nominated short drama, Red Pill (2023) Directed by Will Dolan.

As an Orchestrator and Assistant, Catherine has prepared scores for multiple small-scale orchestra sessions at Air Studios Lyndhurst, London and assisted on larger-scale sessions with FAMES, Macedonia.

Since graduating from her BA (Hons) in Music at Falmouth University in 2018, Catherine went on to study under BAFTA and BFI Award-winning composer John Keane at The National Film and Television School, (alumni include Dario Marianelli, Segun Akinola, Natalie Holt and Jon Opstad), where she graduated with an MA in Composing for Film and Television in early 2023.
