Warwick-based Orchestra of the Swan is marking its 30th anniversary year, alongside the close of its 25/26 season at Warwick Hall, with a special celebratory concert on Tuesday 23 June 2026.
Inspired by the iconic cover of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Swan’s Artistic Director, David Le Page has devised a programme that brings together the many faces, voices and influences that have defined the Swan’s journey over the past three decades.
Joining the orchestra will be award-winning singer-songwriter SuRie, who features on the Swan’s latest film and TV soundtrack album Light and Shadow, and has appeared in George Eliot in Words and Music, the music for which was devised and arranged by The Swan’s David Le Page. The concert will also feature harpsichordist, jazz pianist and composer David Gordon, a long-standing collaborator and friend of the orchestra, who last appeared at Warwick Hall in Elements in March 2025
The programme celebrates the players, composers, collaborators and musical worlds that have defined Orchestra of the Swan since its founding in 1996, reflecting the ensemble’s distinctive approach to crossing musical boundaries and creating imaginative, genre-defying performances.
The Swan has been driven by curiosity and a belief that music thrives when boundaries are fluid. This anniversary programme reflects that ethos. Bach and Vivaldi sit comfortably alongside Radiohead and Sandy Denny, while Vaughan Williams and Grieg converse with Miles Davis, The Velvet Underground and Peter Gabriel. The thread that binds it all together, David Le Page explains, is not genre, but atmosphere, storytelling and a shared emotional directness.
David Le Page goes on to explain:
“This concert is not a retrospective in the traditional sense. It’s a living statement of who we are now – an ensemble that continues to evolve, collaborate and reimagine what a chamber orchestra can be in the 21st century. Above all, it’s a thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey over the last thirty years.”
The concert promises to be both a celebration and a bold artistic statement, encapsulating the orchestra’s continuing commitment to innovation, collaboration and musical exploration.
Up until 2023, The Swan was based at the Stratford Playhouse, in Stratford-upon-Avon (now the Rother Street Arts House) and is the 'Orchestra in Residence' at Warwick Schools Foundation.
