Friday 19th - Monday 22nd December 2025
The Bridge House Theatre is excited to officially launch our next Three-Day Play, an expeditious studio performance of 'Love and Information' by Caryl Churchill. Actors aged 14-18 are invited to work intensively over three days with director Imogen Tong to stage this knotty and gripping play which explores the complexities of the human existence and the relationships we try and develop with people, technology and all the things we don’t understand.
Our first Three-Day Play was ‘The Burial at Thebes’ by Seamus Heaney, a retelling of the classic story of Antigone. Students got the opportunity to work alongside fellow young theatre-makers to create a professional level production with costume, lighting, set and props. This project strives to introduce young creative minds to historical and internationally-renowned plays, as well as providing them the opportunity to experience the rigour of a drama school environment guided by professional theatre practitioners and enjoying the extensive resources available at the Bridge House Theatre.
How will the project work?
On the Friday evening students will be introduced to the script and the main themes in 'Love and Information'. They will be given the chance to get to know each other and cultivate a creative space which they can feel comfortable devising in over the long weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be intensive rehearsals days where the company will get the opportunity to work with the script. Each morning will begin with a physical warm up and ensemble building drama games. Monday will consist of a technical run and a dress run in costume, where we can plot the stage lights and cue the music.
What ages can participate?
We are recommending that young people taking part are 14-18 years old. This is as a result of the mature content within the script. These topics will be dealt with sensitively but parental discretion is required. Do get in touch with the team if you'd like to discuss this.
Why Love and Information?
The main reason we have chosen ‘Love and Information’ is due to it's playful structure. The play doesn't follow a single narrative line, but rather features 50 short scenes, linked by a shared theme, with over a hundred different characters in a huge array of situations. These succinct, focused snapshots into the lives of the characters will allow our actors bountiful opportunities for multi-rolling, testing their creative decision making and enabling them to build relationships quickly.
Caryl Churchill continues to be a hugely influential in British theatre, playing with elements of surrealism and experimenting with form. She has been described as "one of Britain's greatest poets and innovators for the contemporary stage".
'Love and Information' is also an A-level set text for Eduqas, and provides a valuable experience for students approaching or currently within Sixth Form.
How can I apply?
If you would like to take part you can visit the website to book your place.
Is there a cost to take part?
The cost to participate is £90, however there is an early-bird price of £75 if you book before 1st September (this discount will appear at the cart page).
You can also choose a 'pay-it-forward' place...
What is 'pay-it-forward'?
Are you able to support another young person's participation? By choosing the 'pay-it-forward' option you will be helping a young actor who may not otherwise be able to take part. This option will cost £45 more than the participation fee and will enable someone else to be part of the Three-Day Play at a reduced rate. This money will not be used for any other purpose and if these supported places are not taken up the additional £45 cost will be refunded.
How do I access a supported place?
Supported places will completely dependent on the number of 'pay-it-forward' fees chosen. If you would like to apply for a supported place please email Imogen directly i.tong@warwickschools.co.uk with your name, age and why you would like to take part in the Three-Day Play.
Space is limited to booking early is advised! We would love to see a large cohort of young creatives get involved.
A sneak preview of the script:
DECISION
I’ve written down all the reasons to leave the country and all the reasons to stay.
So how does that work out?
There’s things on both sides.
How do you feel about it?
No, I’m trying to make a rational decision based on the facts.
Do you want me to decide for you?
Based on what? The facts don’t add up.
I’d rather you stayed here. Does that help?
