The Bridge House Theatre will welcome back Mr Maddens from their Christmas sensation Nativity! The Musical in 2023. George Attwell Gerhards played the loveable primary school teacher who promises a visit from Hollywood to his class of sparky Coventry kids.

George returns to the Bridge House Theatre this December with his own professional company Paperback Theatre which he runs with director Lucy Bird. They will be performing an imaginative adaption of much-loved classic The Wind in the Willows for one show only on Friday 18th December 2026 at 7.30pm.
The Wind in the Willows was first produced as part of Little but LIVE! festival in Moseley Park, Birmingham, before enjoying further sold-out shows at Assembly Festival Gardens for Coventry City of Culture. This heartwarming production has proved a hit with families and wider audiences, being described as “fun, funny and utterly charming” by Brum Hour.
During his 35 performances as Mr Maddens, George made a lasting, positive impact, both on and off the stage. He worked with over 60 local young people aged 8-15, as well as 18 community adult actors, and received fantastic reviews from critics and audiences alike for his convincing and endearing portrayal.
Bring family and friends along to see him team up with the roguish characters from Kenneth Grahame’s tale of adventure. Mole and the gang must go head-to-head with a motorcar, Her Majesty’s Constabulary and a legion of Weasels, Ferrets and Stoats taking up residence in Toad Hall.
