Applications are now OPEN for the Bridge House Theatre's Youth Arts Committee
We are looking for young people aged 11-17 who are passionate about theatre and the arts to join our new Youth Arts Committee (YAC). Members would meet three times a year to discuss the programme of events, current projects and policies, and reflect on both the venue’s successes and areas for improvement.
The Bridge House Theatre is an education-centred arts venue for young people; therefore, it feels pertinent that our local young people should have a voice in how it operates and how it can best meet their needs!

Role of a committee member
- Attend termly meetings (second Tuesday of September, January and May).
- Contribute to discussion about the programme of events at the Bridge House Theatre as well as arts and culture locally.
- Devise projects and initiatives to support the development of the theatre as a creative hub for young people.
- Influence creative decision-making and strategy.
- Act as an advocate for the work of the Bridge House Theatre.
Mission of YAC
- To champion creative young voices and shape meaningful theatre experiences for our audiences.
- To keep young people at the heart of the work of the Bridge House Theatre by listening to their ideas and involving them in creative decision making.
- To build a more connected, inclusive and collaborative community through young leadership and engagement in the arts.
- To inspire life-long passion in the next generation of theatregoers.
- To equip young people with important transferrable skills such as communication, critical thinking and innovation.
How do I apply to join YAC?
- Complete an online form
- Answer the question ‘Why does live performance matter?’ (max 250 words).
- Deadline for applications 31st July 2026.
- A panel of experts will read the applications and chose a maximum of 10 participants.
- Successful and unsuccessful candidates will be contacted by email.
What happens if I am successful?
- Successful candidates will receive an agenda of conversation-points ahead of the first meeting in September.
- Membership lasts for 1 year. Existing members can re-apply in summer 2027
