Yes, we may be heading into our fifth heat wave of 2026 but here on Myton Road we’re looking ahead to cooler evenings later in the year. We have an incredible line up of professional theatre and music to delight our audiences at the Bridge House Theatre this Christmas.
Festivities begin on Saturday 28th November with greatly anticipated return of the award-winning Dyad Productions with their five-star adaptation of A Christmas Carol: Being a Ghost Story of Christmas. Developed in collaboration with The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead, this masterful solo performance draws inspiration from Dickens’ own legendary readings of his work. Rebecca Vaughan and Andrew Margerison, never fail to amaze audiences with their gripping touring productions, and recently boarded the QM2 from New York to Southampton, performing their masterful repertoire across the Atlantic. This is theatre at its most intimate and magical!
It wouldn’t be a Christmas programme without a turn from the funny folks from Warwick Comedy Club. December’s headliner is Geoff Norcott who is back at the Bridge House Theatre for the first time since his solo show ‘Taking Liberties’ in 2019. Catch Geoff on Saturday 5th December with support from Steve Hall, Julian Deane and Ryan Mold. Comedy starts at 8pm!
Why not celebrate the end of the school term with Paperback Theatre’s heartwarming adaptation of The Wind in the Willows on Friday 18th December 7.30pm. This Birmingham-based company is spearheaded by director and creative learning practitioner, Lucy Bird, and actor and writer, George Attwell Gerhards. Bridge House stalwarts will remember George as the loveable Mr Maddens from our self-produced Christmas spectacular Nativity the Musical, in 2023. The Wind in the Willows is perfect for families of all ages. Find out whether Toady, Mole and their plucky band of heroes can save the day and make it home in time for Christmas. Audience have dubbed it ‘a brilliantly engaging show that keeps the spirit of the story while injecting fun for all ages’ and ‘creative, funny and energetic’. Family ticket price just £65!
We’re really excited to welcome Operation Moonlight to Warwick with their festive farce, The Twelve Days of Christmas on Monday 21st December 2026. If you’re looking for something a little different to the local panto, get yourself along to see three actors play over 30 characters in this madcap Christmas adventure. You all know the song, but what would you do if your true love really did give you all those birds? The hapless Sir Edward is head over heels for the beautiful Miss Elizabeth. But how to show his affection? Why through gifts of course! And as the presents stack up, so does the mayhem! Catch them for just one whirlwind performance, starting at 5pm.
To round off our wintry merriment, and back due to popular demand, we have Coventry’s exceptional GreenMatthews on Tuesday 22nd December. The duo describes themselves as ‘modern-day balladeers specialising in telling stories through song’. Their repertoire spans 600 years from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, ideal for ‘Historic Warwick’. Chris Green is a regular musician at Shakespeare’s Globe and plays most things with fretted strings or keys. Sophie Matthews is well-known for her prowess on the English border bagpipes and has become one of the foremost players of the instrument in the UK. She also plays a variety of early woodwind instruments such as shawm, rauschpfeife and recorder, as well as being one of a handful of British players of the baroque musette. Featuring Christmas carols, winter folk songs, toe-tapping tunes and a plethora of weird and wonderful instruments, Gaudete! brings the festive season to life in a riot of sound and colour! For this performance, GreenMatthews are joined by Emily Baines on early woodwind and Richard Heacock on violin – perfectly evoking the spirit of Christmas past.
